Market News

This year we are celebrating an incredible ten years of East Oxford Farmers' and Community Market. After starting out with six stalls on Manzil Way back in 2007 the market has gone from strength to strength. Moving to the current school site in 2009 the market went on to be shortlisted as one of three finalists for a BBC Food and Farming Award for Best Food Market in 2011. We now host around 20 fantatstic stalls each week and enjoy a wonderfully loyal community of customers for whom we have become an integral part of local life. We think this milestone needs to be marked. And we have teamed up with East Oxford Primary School - which provides such a great location for the market - to do so.

Next Monday several of our regular traders are running an assembly on sustainable food at the school and the kids will be working with Maria of Make Do Mend to design a special edition mug. On Saturday 16th July you can vote for the best design and on Saturday 17th September our birthday extravaganza market will see the winner announced. The mugs will then have pride of place in our market café where they can be used for the next ten years! We are very grateful to Midcounties Co-operative for funding whoch has enabled this work.

This week: fresh organic veal from North Aston Dairy, raspberries from Sotwell Manor Fruit Farm, cut flowers grown in Toot Baldon by this week's Featured Trader - Country Bunches - and so much more.
