It's a beautifully autumnal market this week. David of Swerford Heath Nuts has his home grown walnuts, cobnuts and chestnuts. The Clays Organic Farm has pumpkins. Whilst these are delicious for eating Mark says you may struggle carving them. He grows them for flavour whearas the supermarket variety are grown with soft skins for carving. He has two varieties: 'Muscade de Provence' for pies and Rouge d'Etamps for soups or roasting.  

 

Crudges are taking a well-earned week off so we are very lucky to have Norton & Yarrow Cheese back with us. The Shillingford based goat dairy have only been making cheese for one year but incredibly have already picked up three national cheese awards! Read about their goat farming journey so far - and see some very cute pictures - on their blog. 

 

Over at Willowbrook Farm they have had a busy couple of weeks appearing on BBC Oxford radio and TV for their pioneering organic, halal approach to farming. Great to see the family getting the recognition they deserve.   

 

This is my final newsletter as Bookings Coordinator. It has been a huge pleasure keeping you up to date with the weekly life of our market and I will continue to be involved as a Market Manager on Saturdays.
