Usually these emails are focussed on our food producers so it's a pleasure to this week highlight the amazing work of one of our non-food traders: Maria Skoyles of Make Do Mend. Maria has been busy working on a new project, called the Dorcas dress. She's been working with women from around the world to find a fashionable dress solution which can be made in one size, yet fits anyone; be made on the simplest of straight stitch hand powered sewing machines in any rural region; with no trims or fastenings, just the fabric and thread to reduce sourcing issues and it's carbon footprint; and based on a business model which can support women from around the world, whether they are earning a living wage in the UK or able to earn generously to support their communities in poorer countries like Mozambique. More details about the project brief can be found here. Maria will be bringing a selection of sample dresses to the market, you'll find her, as usual sat behind her sewing machine in the main hall.
Over on the edible side of things Ian of Chillis 2 U has been working hard during the winter developing three chilli chutneys using different types of chillies. He will have mango and chilli kashmiri and hot garlic and chilli chutneys on Saturday. Plantation Chocolates will be in attendance - still flushed with pride at their recent new Academy of Chocolate Award for their Lemon & Sea Salt Ganache chocolates. Make sure to pop by and find out what so impressed the panel. And finally, we are very pleased to once again have Richard of Sotwell Manor Fruit Farm back with his strawberries - buy early to avoid disappointment!
There will be no Jericho Coffee tuk tuk this week as they are elsewhere but Ingrid's Bistro always serves a great cup alongside a wonderful range of food - see her menu above.
