VOLUNTEER FOR THE MARKET

Our popular community-run not-for-profit market provides an important outlet for local producers and local small businesses.

To keep the market running we rely on volunteers to help on Market day.

There are shifts for two volunteers every Saturday.

No experience necessary and instructions will be provided - the tasks are very easy.

Shift One 9:45am to 11:15am - putting up market signs on local lamposts, writing out stallholder fee receipts

Shift Two 11:45am to 1:15pm - collecting stall fees, taking down signs

Natural Bread is an independent Oxford based artisan bakery. The company is family run and is proud to make all their own wonderful breads, pastries & cakes by hand, from scratch, and fresh every day in their Botley bakery without using any additives or preservatives.

Their signature natural sourdough breads are made using locally milled flour, sourdough starter, water, salt and time and while other bakeries might use yeast to get their breads to rise, Natural Bread uses traditional natural leaven, slow fermentation techniques letting the sourdough starter do its job over 48 hours – giving the bread its wonderful texture & depth of flavour. The Natural Bread bakers knead rather than stir the dough (stirring is how most processed breads are made). The kneading takes longer and requires a lot of skill, but it means that many people who have a low tolerance to gluten and high levels of yeast can enjoy these breads, as they are more easily digestible when made in this way. The breads and pastries are baked fresh each morning and to ensure freshness are always sold on that day.

The company has a successful wholesale business but has never forgotten its roots in the Appleton Farmers Market, and is proud to be a local food producer and stallholder each week at the East Oxford Farmers Market.
